PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY EXECUTIVE TO OUTLINE EVOLUTION OF MEDICAL AND MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS AT 2003 BIO ANNUAL CONVENTION

Salem, Massachusetts, — June 17, 2003 — ApotheCom Associates LLC announced today that the managing director of its Boston office, Patricia Patrick, will join industry colleagues for a session on The Evolution of Marketing Communications in the Drug Development Cycle during the 2003 Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) Annual Convention in Washington, DC, on June 25, 2003. Ms Patrick is part of a distinguished panel that includes representatives from both the corporate- and service- oriented facets of the pharmaceutical industry. Also on the panel is Catherine Cloft, director of strategic development at ApotheCom Associates, who will moderate the discussion.

"My presentation will focus on the value added by introducing strategic medical communications earlier rather than later in the drug development cycle," stated Ms Patrick. "Early medical communications can help to achieve key milestones that impact the potential for licensing, financing, and partnering - all of which are critical issues faced by early-stage companies." ApotheCom provides tactical and strategic medical communications support throughout all phases of a product's lifecycle from preliminary phase I/II trials to NDA filing, through product launch and market expansion."

Ms Patrick further commented that "companies that are planning to market a late-stage agent need to plan medical communications that establish the scientific platform on which the agent will be marketed. This effort needs to start at least 2 to 3 years before product launch. Peer review scientific and medical forums are critical components of the development and evaluation of potential new drugs."

Ms Patrick has more than 25 years of experience in pharmaceutical and emerging-technology companies and in the healthcare communications industry. As managing director of ApotheCom Boston, she directs business development, client liaison services, and strategic consultancy. ApotheCom Boston provides full medical communications services to local, national, and international clients.

Founded in 1999 by Neil Matheson and Lawrence Lesser, ApotheCom employs more than 130 people in its Boston, San Francisco, Philadelphia, and London area offices. In 2002 ApotheCom Associates achieved $41.2 million in gross revenue.
